Description: Long-chain omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA are crucial for the health of the brain, eyes and nervous system, and may support healthy cognitive function, and cardiovascular health. Vegan diets do not contain DHA and EPA, and though the body can synthesize a small amount of DHA and EPA from the short-chain omega-3 fatty acid (ALA) found in flax seeds, hemp seeds, walnuts and other plant foods, the tiny amount synthesized is inadequate in most individuals to prevent shrinkage of the brain with aging. Fish and fish oil are unfavorable sources of DHA and EPA because most fatty fish contain harmful pollutants. Dr. Fuhrman's DHA+EPA Purity is derived from lab-grown algae and contains no contaminants. A few drops (0.75 ml) delivers over 250 mg long-chain omega-3 fatty acids.  Unlike other DHA products we take meticulous care to assure freshness of these oils to prevent rancidity, by packing in dark glass, and refrigerating in our warehouse, until it is shipped out.
